Stupid Genius jumps into all things PhD life. Hosts Emily Wharton and Mollie Bryde-Evens discuss the highs and lows of doctoral study. They share their experiences of being PhD students and the lessons they have learned along the way to help make your PhD journey that bit easier.
Emily and Mollie met as PhD students in Liverpool, in early 2021. They began Stupid Genius in January 2023 and they haven't looked back since!
Stupid Genius releases a brand new episode every Wednesday. Emily and Mollie discuss the PhD journey, share PhD advice, and cover topics such as how to dress as a PhD student, being proud of your PhD successes, managing conflict with your supervisors, taking a break, and much more. Expect lots of laughs, an abundance of stupidity, and occasionally, a moment of genius.
Emily is a fourth-year PhD student in the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences and Applied Research Collaboration with the North West Coast (ARC NWC). Emily's current research is focused on health inequalities for older adults, particularly home adaptions for preventing stair falls and access to care during COVID-19. Emily hopes to inspire people in academia to be wholeheartedly themselves.
Dr Mollie Bryde-Evens finished her VC-Scholarship funded PhD in October 2023 and is a full-time Lecturer in Ethical Business and Responsible Management at Liverpool Business School. Mollie's research interests are sustainability and business ethics. Mollie is passionate about fostering a welcoming and inclusive academic environment that prioritises well-being and individuality.
Emily and Mollie are available to book for events such as panel talks, presentations, and workshops. If you are interested in working with Stupid Genius, or collaborating in a different way, then please use the email form at the bottom to submit an enquiry.
